Executive Director - Women Back to Work

Tami joined Akraya in 2025 as Executive Director of Women Back to Work, Akraya’s initiative to create systematic pathways that empower women to return to paid work. The WBW program enables employers to meet their business goals by accessing a valuable talent pool of highly qualified, technical professionals who are not typically available through traditional channels.
In 2016 Tami founded Path Forward, a nonprofit organization that empowered stay-at-home mothers and other family caregivers to restart their professional careers. She led Path Forward for seven years, during which time more than 100 companies, including Amazon, Apple, Comcast NBC Universal, Netflix, SAP, Walmart, and Pepsi worked with Tami and her team to launch and expand return to work programs.
She is an expert on gender equity, workforce development and women’s participation in the paid labor market. She is a frequent speaker on these issues, having presented at the Grace Hopper Celebration, DisruptHR, Tech Inclusion, and the Conference Board’s Women’s Leadership Conference, among others. She is also a writer on topics related to career and women in the workplace at publications like Fortune, TODAY.com, New America Weekly, Forbes and LinkedIn. She was a Fairygodboss VIP and was named by Flexjobs as one of the top 20 career experts for working moms. She writes a newsletter on these and other topics called How We Do It. Before founding Path Forward, Tami spent a decade as a marketing executive with data solutions provider, Return Path. Before that she worked in book publishing at Simon & Schuster and Houghton Mifflin and held senior-level web editorial positions at iVillage and News Corp.
Tami is also a frequent speaker at events like the Grace Hopper Celebration and Tech Inclusion, and her writing has appeared in outlets such as Forbes, Fortune, TODAY.com, and LinkedIn.
