Google LLC is an American multinational technology company that specializes in Internet-related services and products which include online advertising technologies, a search engine, cloud computing, software, and hardware. Akraya has worked with Google since 2013 and are engaged with multiple groups providing technical, non-technical, and creative personnel. Our engagement is through a Statement of Work.
THE CHALLENGE OF CREATING AND IMPLEMENTING A COMPREHENSIVE WORKPLACE PRODUCTIVITY AND COLLABORATION PLATFORM
Google’s Core UX Team creates intuitive, beautiful, user-centered designs across platforms to create powerful visuals that highlight every Google product’s unique personality. The team’s work touches billions while exemplifying one of Google’s core principles: “Focus on the user and all else will follow.”
The Core UX team planned on building a group of 160+ product designers, researchers, program managers, writers, and front-end engineers across SVL, SFO, LAX, MUC, SEA and NYC. Their task was to reinvent the workplace by designing and building a next-generation, world-leading enterprise technology that gave Google employees a platform to accelerate career growth and education with a focus on workplace collaboration, productivity, and accessibility.
Google was seeking a strategic long term partner to work with the Core UX team to provide personnel in a variety of functions including UX writing, engineering, research, and design.
WHY GOOGLE CHOSE AKRAYA
Google aimed to select one or more service providers who would deliver flexible staffing support across UX disciplines. Core UX was also looking for ongoing operations support in the form of consistent recruiting of talent, on-boarding support that included high level training, transition support for attrition, access management to Google systems, performance management, and ongoing billing and accounting.

HOW AKRAYA RESPONDED
Our solution was to use Akraya’s industry-leading recruiting processes to hire the best talent in the creative field who were also subject matter experts.
To do this, the Akraya team implemented the following processes and tactics:
- Designedan outline for the project needs and scope with the teams involved.
- Createda game plan and working budget.
- Addeda Project Manager to help thedelivery team manage Google’s needs.
- Implementeda custom, three-level screening process.
- Addedresourcesto the team to ensure delivery and then monitored for satisfaction.
Within a short time of being selected, Akraya added Level 1 to Level 5 Researchers, Level 1 to Level 5 Designers, and a range of Program Managers to get the project started. The talent was added to various groups in Core UX where they helped work on rapid research and long term research projects.
Thanks to the contributions of Akraya, Google’s Core UX teams have designed, built, and launched four products with more in the pipeline.
