For comparison purposes, IT jobs throughout the country average $80,180 per year.
• Computer and information research scientists earn a mean $103,670 per year.
• Applications developers earn a mean $93,280 per year. Developers who specialize in systems software average more at $102,550 yearly. Programmers make a mean annual $78,260.
• Database administrators receive a mean $79,120 yearly. Systems administrators make a mean annual $76,320 and network architects average $94,000 yearly.
• The average yearly pay of user support specialists runs $50,130, while that of network support specialists is $62,960.
Bay Area IT jobs are the highest of any metropolitan area in the country.The BLS divides the region into two locations. Those in the San Jose, Sunnyvale and Santa Clara form the first area, and boast the highest mean pay for IT jobs, averaging $108,610 per year.
• Computer and information research scientists make an average $121,950 per year.
• Applications developers receive a mean $116,610 annually. Systems software developers earn a mean $127,150 yearly. Programmers average an annual average of $97,400.
• Database administrators receive a mean $95,490 yearly. Systems administrators make a mean annual $94,850 and network architects average $138,520 yearly.
• User support specialists make a mean $71,170 per year, while network support specialists average $85,360 yearly.
The second location covers San Francisco, San Mateo and Redwood City, and shows the second highest wages, averaging an annual $100,720.
• Computer and information research scientists earn a mean $118,590 per year.
• Applications developers average $112,670 annually. Systems software developers make a mean $110,670 yearly. Programmers receive a mean annual $100,450.
• Database administrators receive a mean $96,360 yearly. Systems administrators make a mean annual $94,170 and network architects average $121,350 yearly.
• User support specialists make a mean $64,990 per year, while network support specialists average $83,570 yearly.
